It is beneficial for patient health that trained healthcare professionals use DuoDERM® Hydroactive® Gel at the right point in time during the healing of a wound.

The gel facilitates autolytic debridement.

It moisturizes, bringing needed moisture to dry, necrotic, sloughy or granulating wounds.

A sterile nozzle is provided for ease of application.

Hydroactive dressings are similar in nature to hydrocolloid dressings but, rather than forming a gel when combined with wound exudate, they trap the fluid within the structure of the matrix and swell up. The adhesive matrix is secured by a film dressing which controls the evaporation of fluid from the dressing.

Direction of use/Preparation

• Cleanse the wound bed. Rinse and dry the wound and skin surrounding
• Unscrew the cap and remove the safety ring
• Puncture the tube membrane by replacing the cap
• Apply the gel on the wound surface, make sure you do not fill the wound above the level of surrounding skin
• Convatec hydroactive gel can be worn up to 7 days (it should be change with every dressing change or when dressing starts leaking) Note : Autolytic debridement may make the wound larger after first few changes then decreases with size gradually

Cautions

Store the gel at room temperature and avoid freezing

- Colonization of chronic wound is not uncommon and is not a contraindication to use the gel

- Appropriate antibiotic therapy should be used when an infection occurs or is suspected

The gel may be continued but under medical supervision

- Occlusion is not recommended for anaerobic infections

- For diabetic foot ulcers, measures to monitor blood sugar levels and provide pressure reliefs should be provided
